A Taste of Uzbekistan in the Heart of Los Angeles

Embark on a delightful exploration of Uzbek cuisine and culture at Zira Uzbek Kitchen, founded by Azim Rahmatov. Inspired by a vision to bring the authentic flavors of Uzbekistan to Los Angeles, Azim established Zira Uzbek Kitchen, a celebration of the blend of Central Asian flavors, traditions and hospitality.

Our Story: From Uzbekistan to Los Angeles

Born and raised in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, a city with a history spanning over 2,000 years, Azim’s journey led him to the United States in 2001. While pursuing his university studies, he discovered the opportunity to share the tastes of his homeland while working at Restaurant Uzbekistan on Sunset and La Brea in Hollywood. After graduation, he traversed the country and gained valuable experience in the hospitality industry. Upon returning to Los Angeles in 2021, Azim was unable to find any restaurants where community gets together over a cup of chai and Uzbek. This challenge sparked a dream—to bring diverse communities together through showcasing Uzbek cuisine, culture, and spirit. Thus, Zira Uzbek Kitchen was born, named after cumin, the spice traded along the Silk Road connecting Uzbekistan to China and Europe.

Authentic Uzbek Cuisine:

Zira Uzbek Kitchen proudly stands as the sole authentic Uzbek cuisine destination in Los Angeles. Uzbek food, crafted from simple yet exquisite ingredients, offers a mouthwatering experience. Our menu showcases a delectable array of dishes, from the traditionally filled Manti dumplings to the flavorful hand-pulled noodle dish, Lagman. And don’t miss the opportunity to savor the national dish of Uzbekistan—Plov, where aromatic rice is seasoned with the spice that inspired our name, cumin.

For our guests seeking a vegetarian option, indulge in the delicious Khonum, a pasta roll filled with diced potatoes and onions topped with homemade tomato sauce; vegetarian Lagman with a medley of vibrant vegetables and spices; or Samsa, a golden, flaky pastry with a savory pumpkin filling.
